During the resurgence Salsa and Latin dance, Jorday Rivera and the studio started being featured on news stations, talk shows, and all forms of local media. They came into national acclaim for their role in the Grammy award winning Mambo Birdland Video of the famous Tito Puente. Jorday Rivera’s Dance Studio continues to be sought out by stars when they’re preparing for their dance parts in film, television and stage.

Jorday Rivera’s Dance Studio keys to success from the beginning has included offering a wide variety of dance styles and being pioneers in creating opportunities for people to utilize their skills on the dance floor through practice and city-wide events. As they began to attract other top teachers and performers, their mission was truly realized – to have the most comprehensive programs available in all areas of social and competitive dancing.

Thanks to the expertise available at the studio, Jorday Rivera’s Dance Studio has been able to successfully expand the scope of its services to both the student population and the community of social and competitive dancers. Today, the extensive repertoire at Jorday Rivera’s Dance Studio also includes show performances, corporate events, dance vacations, wedding services, programs and children’s dance programs.

In the past decade Jorday Rivera’s Dance Studio has become a favorite of both New York area kids and teens, and their parents. Our dedication to teaching children’s partner dance is evident by both the joy and skill seen in our students. Many students have even gone on to compete and perform in some of the countries most prestigious events.

One of the founding beliefs of our program is that partner dance teaches important social values. Our students learn not only how to be graceful, coordinated and poised, but how to be self disciplined, self-confident and cooperative as well. Along with attaining more refined manners and better posture our students also leave the studio with an education in different cultures. At Jorday Rivera’s Studio, students gain insight into other cultures through their study of dances like Salsa, Belly Dance, Hip Hop, Ballet, Jazz, Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango and Rumba, to name but a few. This cultural education is further supplemented by our own multicultural staff and student body. For all these reasons (and many more) we believe involvement in partner dance is one of the greatest ways to boost a child’s self-esteem and help them feel comfortable in nearly any social and cultural setting.

Private lessons are important to refining your dancing skills. Individual, personalized attention will be given to improve your technique, musicality, dance vocabulary and partnering skills which will give you the confidence to dance well, in any situation. You choose the dance(s) because the lesson will be tailored to suit your needs and interests. Most of our teachers are well-versed in a wide variety of dances and there are a few who specialize. Our Dance Advisor will help match you with the best instructor for you. Private lessons run 60 minutes in length.

Remember! If you need to change your lesson, you must call 24-hours in advance to avoid being charged. This policy is very important because gives us time to re-book the instructor.

Whether you ‘re already competent on the dance floor, or have never taken a step to music before, individually or as a couple, our Wedding Dance Specialist will take you through stress-free, carefully planned lessons, to make your first dance together feel effortless and natural. We will help you make this dance one that will be remembered by all of your guests and, more importantly, by the two of you. The skills you learn will not only carry you through your first dance, but will keep you dancing together for years to come.
